When “self quarantine”, “hand sanitizing” and “total lock-down” is not enough!
Novel Coronavirus(COVID-19) disease, sometimes mentioned in news as Chinese virus is a highly contagious and infectious disease which can be transmitted through people to people and human-animal contacts. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is a recently emerged coronavirus that is the causative agent of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recently, a study published by BMC Springer Nature, on 20 April 2021, found out that the SARS-COV-2 can also be spread through flies.
Flies can easily transmit the virus to humans as they collect the pathogens(a bacteria, virus, or other microorganism) on their legs, mouth or small hairs of the body. These pathogens further transferred to the food or any surface( including human body) when it comes in contact with these flies. Consumption of that contaminated food and a habit of touching mouth, nose, eyes and face unknowingly and frequently by humans make them vulnerable to the disease.
Also, the virus can stay alive in stool samples for longer period of times as compared to the respiratory samples of the infected persons.
The SARS-COV-2 may remain active in the excreta even after the person has recovered from the virus. If a fly sits on the excreta and then on eatables, the disease can easily be spread further.
Therefore, staying at home will not suffice to fight against novel coronavirus disease, until we maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness. Please make sure that your homes will not become breeding grounds for flies or any other insects which can transmit such deadly diseases.
Stay indoors, clean and sanitize your living place properly, bathe regularly. By doing this you can save not only your life but also of others.
And remember not to panic, as this time will also pass..
